St Albans Medical Centre is an independently owned general practice that has been caring for the local community for more than 45 years. Our experienced doctors work alongside dedicated one-to-one practice nurses, providing personalised care, continuity, and trusted support for individuals and families, while offering the advantages of a collaborative group practice.
Our team is further supported by an onsite Health Improvement Practitioner, Health Coach, and experienced administrative staff, ensuring comprehensive care and a seamless patient experience.
A range of complementary health services are available onsite, including Remedy Pharmacy, Mole Screen, and Merivale Physiotherapy.
New Enrolments
We are prioritising enrolments for new arrivals to Christchurch who do not yet have a local GP and who live in the immediate practice area.

Flu and Covid Vaccines – Now Available
For the 2026 flu season in New Zealand we have three vaccines available from the 1st April 2026.
Influvax Tetra: This is the standard, funded vaccine for those who are over 65 years or meet the eligibility criteria, available to those 6 months and older.
OR
Influvax Tetra: If you are under 65 with no qualifying medical conditions the cost is $35.
Flucelvax: A cell-based vaccine, suitable for people 6 months and over, costing $43.
Fluad: An adjuvanted vaccine, designed for adults aged 65 years and over with a cost of $45.
Covid vaccinations are also available at the same time as your flu vaccinations.

12-Month Prescribing Changes
In response to the Government’s initiative allowing prescriptions to be issued for up to 12 months, St Albans Medical Centre has introduced a practice policy to ensure patient safety, continuity of care, legal compliance, equity, and efficient workflows.
Please book a consultation with your GP to discuss the most appropriate prescribing duration for your medication.
